Get away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town and enjoy a daytime getaway packed full of engaging animal encounters on safari and excellent meals enjoyed in the shade, out of the blazing African sun. You can also enjoy an overnight stay, which will include sunset and sunrise safaris, while a night of well-deserved rest awaits in various luxury accommodation options.
Day trip travellers to Inverdoorn Game Reserve and Safari Lodge enjoy a jam-packed afternoon safari. You can drive yourself, but Inverdoorn does also offer a daily shuttle service from Cape Town to the lodge. If you drive alone it is recommended that you arrive just before 10.00AM as the safari departs from the lodge at 10.30AM. Day trippers enjoy a three-hour long safari tracking herds of zebra and buck through the scrub, spotting elephant, hippo, lion or cheetah running free on the Karoo plains while dedicated rangers will happily share insights and anecdotes about the game reserve and its inhabitants as you search for the animals.
The day ends with a delicious lunch followed by delicious desserts, all enjoyed in the shade of a giant Eucalyptus tree and at about 3:00PM you will be back on the road to Cape Town.
If you stay overnight you will enjoy sunset and sunrise safari game drives. The animals behave differently according to the time of day and are livelier in the mornings and at dusk. To see buffalo or rhino illuminated by the rising sun or a cheetah being put through its paces at their daily sunset training sessions is what travellers' dreams are made of.
The lodge offers various luxury accommodation packages for travellers to choose from and, depending on availability, you could get to enjoy an extra day getting up close and personal with a cheetah.
The Karoo sun can be harsh and a high SPF factor sunscreen and a sun hat for daytime safari drives are recommended. Binoculars and something warm to wear are also necessities. A curio shop at the lodge stocks a limited amount of safari essentials, should you forget anything.
