Spread the Word, Save the Rhino

RhinoProtect understands that the horn treatment in itself is only half the battle won. Educating and informing the public about this treatment, and the potential it has to stop the illegal trade in rhino horn, is another challenge.

New technology has made it possible to reach more people than ever before and we believe it will be much easier to convince poachers and end-users that our rhinos' horns are useless than it would be to change deeply ingrained beliefs, however misguided they may be.

In April 2012 Inverdoorn held the first of many music concerts with the legendary reggae group The Wailers as the headline act. The StandUp! concert was successfully supported by the media and the public, spreading the message of RhinoProtect and making a great impact on the people of Cape Town. This is only the beginning.

The cause would be ineffective if our guests and followers did not share the information through their networks. Inverdoorn Game Reserve is geared towards raising awareness and educating visitors about the importance of wildlife conservation as well as warning potential poachers that our rhinos are protected. All major entry points are sign-posted with graphic warnings to poachers that our rhinos' horns are worthless and not fit for human consumption. Literature on the horn treatment and the movement can be found throughout the lodge, including flyers at reception, and the rangers will gladly answer any questions you might have.

We know that there is much work to be done, but by helping us to get the word out across our various social media platforms we believe that together we can make a difference.

So starting today - add your voice to the cause by:

  • Visiting Inverdoorn Game Reserve and seeing firsthand what we are trying to protect.
  • Like us and encourage your network to like us on www.facebook.com/RhinoProtect
  • Follow us and retweet our updates on Twitter @rhinoprotect
  • Visit us on rhinoprotect.org
  • Purchase a RhinoProtect T-shirt for just R120. Email contact@rhinoprotect.org to find out how.
*All the proceeds from the sale of T-shirts will go towards the continued roll-out of the horn treatment to protect more rhinos.
